Roy A. Dick, 1921-2003, Tipton

Roy Albert Dick, 81, of Tipton, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at the Capitol Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

He was born Dec. 13, 1921, in Moniteau County, a son of William A. and Lillian Newkirk Dick.

On Aug. 20., 1947, in Tipton, he was married to Norma June Engelbrecht, who survives of the home.

He lived in the Tipton area all his life. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked as a building contractor for the Dick Brothers Construction Co. until he retired in 1987. He was a charter member of the Tipton Country Club and was a member of the Tipton American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and woodworking. He loved spending time with his family.

Also surviving are a son, Danny W. Dick, of Tipton; a daughter, Linda Knipp, of Shawnee, Kan.; three sisters, Arleen Hofstetter, Peggy Combs and Betty Koerkenmeier, all of Tipton, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, William and Raymond Dick, and one sister, Mary Lou York.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton, with the Rev. Ommie L. Nelms officiating. Pallbearers will be Greg Knipp, Mandy Pardoe, Mark Knipp, Marshall Dick, Matt Dick and Michelle Dick. Burial will be in the Moreau Cemetery in Tipton. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Tipton Oak Manor and Tipton Recreation Association.
